Goran Doychev, Ph.D.

Information Security Researcher and Engineer

Goran Doychev

About me

I am currently at ESG in Germany, where I work on solutions for the vast territory of cyber-security for cars, a topic that is gaining in importance for the car manufacturers.

Between 2012 and 2016 I had the pleasure of doing a Ph.D. at the IMDEA Software Institute and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), under Boris Köpf. Prior to that I obtained my BSc and MSc degrees in computer science from the Saarland University in Saarbücken, Germany.

My research interests lie in information security, with a focus on theoretical and practical challenges in securing real-world computerized systems. I am mostly interested in the following topics: side-channel attacks and their prevention; quantitative security guarantees; trade-offs between security and system performance; automotive security.
